YOUNG, ERIC LLOYD
Eric was born in Cuba on January 17, 1928. He migrated to Jamaica at age 10 and settled in the Parish of Westmoreland. In 1948 at age 19 Eric represented the Parish of Westmoreland for the Nethersole Cup. Eric was a superb all-rounder. He played for Westmoreland up until 1951 when he migrated to the United States of America.
Eric settled in Bronx, New York. Shortly after his arrival he became a member of the Primrose Cricket Club. Eric is still a member of the Primrose Cricket Club. He has held different offices at Primrose. He held the office of President for eight years, and Business Manager and Treasurer.
Eric married Winnifred Kinlock in 1957. The marriage has produced six children and Eric and Winnifred are still happily married. Eric was President of the New York Cricket League for nine consecutive years. During his term as President the league grew from five clubs to twenty clubs.
Eric has not only represented Primrose, but has also played against West Indies XI, Pakistan and Yorkshire of England for the New York Cricket League. Eric has made numerous contributions towards the development of cricket in the parish of Westmoreland, especially in the Darliston area.
