BREBNER, JOHN – Born in Scotland in 1905

John Brebner migrated to America in 1931 and became a member of the Staten Island Cricket Club. During his membership, Mr. Brebner served as captain for many years. He was a very good batsman, change bowler and an excellent fielder. He promoted a tour to Bermuda in 1937 and has been President of Staten Island Cricket Club for 31 years. He is also President of New York Cricket District for over 20 years.

He assisted and advised to the founding of the Criste Morris Cricket Library and Museum in Philadelphia. He served as First Vice-President for the Eastern Zone representing the United States Cricket Board of Control.

During World War 11 he assisted in getting our allies to play cricket in America and also helped in promoting these games.

He is a member of the British Schools/Universities since 1954. John Brebner was elected President Emeritus of Staten Island Cricket Club.
