Jay Singh of Connecticut, Nominated to Class of 2026

Jay Singh is a visionary leader, coach, and community builder whose lifelong dedication to cricket has helped transform the sport’s footprint in the United States — especially among youth and grassroots communities.
Born in India, Jay’s cricketing journey began with high distinction, playing through school and college and being named a probable for the Punjab Ranji Trophy team in 1991. After immigrating to the U.S. in 1996, he brought not only a passion for the game but also a deep commitment to youth empowerment and cross-cultural connection through sport.

In 2003, Jay began promoting youth cricket in Danbury, Connecticut. He co-founded the New Milford Cricket Club, now a central force for cricket in the region. In recognition of his decades-long impact, the town honored him by naming its cricket ground the “Jay Singh Oval” — a rare and powerful symbol of his legacy.

Jay currently serves as President of the Southern Connecticut Cricket Association, where he continues to lead initiatives that expand access to cricket, especially for underrepresented youth. He also plays a strategic national role as the New England Hub Coordinator for the USA Junior Pathway Program, helping identify and nurture the next generation of American cricket talent.

Previously, as Youth Coordinator for the United States Cricket Association (USACA), Jay developed programs, mentored young athletes, and led the Connecticut Blizzard to compete in the first-ever US Open Cricket Tournament. He has also been a key partner with Mr. Maq Qureshi in promoting T10 and T20 formats to broaden cricket’s reach across the U.S.

Jay is a Level 4 Certified Cricket Coach, one of the highest coaching credentials in the sport. His coaching emphasizes technical excellence, sportsmanship, and personal growth. Over the past two decades, he has coached and mentored hundreds of young cricketers, many of whom have gone on to represent regional and national teams.
Through leadership, coaching, and community engagement, Jay Singh has become a cornerstone of American cricket development — an inspiring figure whose influence continues to shape the game and the lives it touches.
