TWO HALL OF FAMERS Lawerence Row and Desmond Haynes at VIP LOUNGE at the cricket Stadium Lauderhill, Florida: West Indies vs India Saturday , August 6, 2022
Well done Ricky for the Official invitation for Rowe and his family to the VIP area during the last two games of the just concluded Indian tour. The gesture as President of Cricket West Indies was a repeat of a similar invitation you offered to “Cricket Imortal” and USA Cricket Hall of Famer the majestic Lawrence Rowe a couple years before. Rowe had fun fraternizing with past great WI players including Brian Lara, Chandrapaul, Lance Gibbs and Desmond Haynes who got Rowe’s autograph on a couple of bats. It is now time for The Jamaica Cricket Association to extend an invitation to Rowe for the T20 matches to commemorate 50 years since he “imortalised” himself on his test debut against New Zealand in 1972 with a first inning 214 and an undefeated 100 in the second. It should be noted that preceding that test match, the remarkable Rowe scored 227 in a memorable display of classical strokes to all parts of the world famous Sabina Park. Jamaica do not allow another “Caribbean Island Official” to extend an invitation to the affable purest stroke player ever to have graced the international stages.
