Georgia Women Cricket Association Presents 9th Annual T20 Cricket Tournament

Cricket fans are cordially invited to the Earl O’Neal Sports Complex 2709 Old Covington Rd NE, Conyers Georgia 30013 for the ninth annual Georgia Women’s T20 cricket tournament to be played on May 28-29.

The tournament is being staged by the Georgia Women Cricket Association (GWCA) with the aim of providing a platform for women cricketers to showcase their skills and also to aid in the development and promotion of the sport.

Three teams will compete for championship honors in a T20 format. They are Belizean Royal Strikers visiting from Belize and featuring several national players; Johns Creek Panthers; and Atlanta Pearls led by former Jamaica and West Indies player, Shenel Daley.  The teams will play four matches each  in a round robin format with the top two teams -on points- advancing to the championship game set for Sunday May 29.

The games will be livestreamed on CricClubs and YouTube SM formats and are scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. daily.

Petal Samuels, Founder and President of Georgia Women Cricket Association expects the tournament to be highly competitive while providing a fun filled and enjoyable Memorial Day Holiday weekend celebration for cricket enthusiasts and their families. “Gifts of encouragement in the form of cricket gear will be presented for outstanding performances” according to Ms. Samuels, herself an accredited umpire.

The event is sanctioned by USA Cricket and supported by a number of corporate and community entities including Cricket Hall of Fame (CHoF), Caribbean International Shipping Services and Param Veers Cricket Fields.
